Generally my efforts are in the following areas:
- Open Source Learning (Natural Learning): Bring out the true face of learning. It turns the whole society into a comprehensive learning environment so it will be much easier for people to learn by themselves in a dynamical way in society. For more details:
- Grassroots Web (Open Project, Organization Management): Build a better playground. How independent artists/professionals can work together in various forms of organizations and be really in charge of their work/activities/arts. For more details: https://freestone.wordpress.com/2007/03/28/web20-is-grassroots/
- Cross Culture Communication: Bridge the gap between different cultures, between the developed countries and developing countries, between the west and the east
Why doing these projects? You can read the following essay: Peace: What is peace? How do we build peace in our world?
In term of software, my current efforts involve designing space-building software, which will be a center piece of the Natural Learning platform and Open Project. Another project, which is in a larger scale and more research-like, is Web Brain (https://freestone.wordpress.com/2007/01/03/web-brain/). I have no time to work on Web Brain now. But I am ready to take on the challenge once I can take free control of my time.
My software skills are mostly focused on software architecture, web based programming/web platform, python and java.
Groups I used to organize (these groups are either not existing anymore or taken over by someone else):
